Besides The Sound of Music, Plummer has starred in many other successful films such as The Silent Partner, The Insider, Where; he starred as Mike Wallace, A Beautiful Mind, in Last Station; he was Leo Tolstoy.
He has also portrayed several major historical figures including Arthur Wellesley, 1st Duke of Wellington in 1970 blockbuster Waterloo, as Rudyard Kipling in The Man Who Would Be King and as J. Paul Getty All the Money in the World (2017) .

Arthur Christopher Orme Plummer was born on December 13, 1929, Plummer is the only son of Isabella Mary (former Secretary to the Dean of Science at McGill University) and John Orme Plummer, who sold stocks and securities.
Plummer’s great-grandfather is Sir John Abbott, Prime Minister of Canada, while his great-great-grandson is Anglican clergyman and McGill President John Bethune.
His parents divorced the same year he was born, so Plummer was raised by his mother in Senneville, Quebec (a suburban village on the western tip of the island of Montreal). He attended high school in Montreal and then McGill University.

Career
Plummer who first studied to be a concert pianist developed a love for theater at an early age. He began his acting career while in high school, even at McGill, after watching Laurence Olivier’s 1944 film Henry V.
His first notable role was when he played Darcy in the production of Pride and Prejudice. After high school, he trained at the Canadian Repertory Theater in Ottawa, where he acted in many productions, including The Infernal Machine, which also featured William Shatner and Cymbeline.
He made his major Broadway debut in 1953, when he starred in The Starcross Story, then came Home is the Hero. He also starred in The Dark Is Light Enough, supporting legends Katharine Cornell and Tyrone Power.
Plummer had his biggest big-screen success with his performance as aloof widowed Captain Georg Von Trapp in the 1965 film The Sound of Music, which he starred alongside Julie Andrews. He appeared in so many other Hollywood blockbusters like Murder by Decree, The Silent Associate, The Insider, A Beautiful Mind, The Last Station.
Some of her other movies include Daisy Clover, The Royal Chase of the Sun, Velvet International, Generals Night, Somewhere in Time, The Unknown Country, The New World, Eyewitness, Star Trek VI, Dance of Shadows, Dragnet, The lake house among others.
He remains one of the most respected and honored English actors in the world.
